This app was ideated by Elysse Turner, and developed in collaboration with Samantha Dewhurst and Jesper Sjöberg. Together we worked to flesh out the idea and purpose of the app and how to visualise that while adhering to guidelines provided for apple devices.
This idea was pitched with Samantha Dewhurst at UOWPitch 2017 and won the best undergraduate pitch award. Together we created a polished presentation which clearly communicated the core values of the app.

Your time is valuable. What do you spend your time doing?
Are you cramming for semester?
Are you in the office 5 days a week?
Are you constantly commuting across the country just to get to your next job location?
One thing stands out in all of these examples: the time spent outside is scarce.
We want to go outside, but we end up spending more time researching the locations we want to go to, than actually being in them.
Currently there is no easy solution to find bushwalks close in distance to suit your needs, without googling for hours, digging through national park websites, searching through for credible blog reviews, seeking the ‘perfect recommendation. But when it comes to driving, parking the car and getting from A to B, we are lost.
But we have the solution… HERE: and app for finding, saving and sharing outdoor experiences.

So how do we achieve this? Our app integrates three core features: Browse, Events and Upload.
With the birth of the Internet, we have access to more information than we know what to do with. We are always seeking to sort and categorise this information which is a laborious task.
Our browse feature solves this problem by bringing the right information to you in a glance. Easy to analyse pictures present our bushwalk locations, letting know what you’re getting in a glance.
This motivates, encourages and inspires users to spend more time outdoors doing what they love: getting back to nature.
Events creates a social community, encouraging a sense of belonging and sharing together. Users can plan bushwalk events with friends, serving to motivate others to go outside also, benefitting the wellbeing of all.
Upload enables users to participate, becoming the narrator of their own adventure. Each location comes with further details noted by the contributor, giving quick ratings for specific information, such walk length, walk difficulty, and overall enjoyment.
This taps into the social element, encouraging others to explore and share their own experiences, encouraging others to join the outdoor movement.
Statistic prove that there is an increase in people participating in outdoor activities such as bushwalking.
Just this year, National Parks has had a massive increase of visitors compared to previous years.
Because of this increase in demand, National Parks Australia are in the process of implementing a booking system, particularly for their high demand seasons. This presents a possible opportunity for partnership and integration within the app.
While bushwalking is our main focus at this time, our app can be applied to any outdoor activity, such as Kayaking, Cycling, 4WDing, or even Snorkling.

Let’s put an end to hours wasted on time searching for the right information to begin your outdoor adventure. Forget the unhelpful brochures designed for tourists, forget the painful chore of web searches leaving your unmotivated at the end of the day. The answer is HERE. In your pocket.
Currently we have the system designed, with all app screens visualised and ready for development. Help us bring people HERE. Here in the outdoors, Here in the present, Here amongst nature.
HERE. Where will it take you?
